The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT), located at Birlinghoven near Bonn, Germany, helps to shape the future with novel, market-oriented products. FIT’s researchers work in interdisciplinary teams and combine insights from computer science with questions from other fields.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Communication, Information Processing and Ergonomics (FKIE), located at Wachtberg near Bonn, Germany, mainly works for the Federal Defence Forces of Germany (Bundeswehr) and actively represents Germany in 12 working groups in the NATO S&T IST Panels. FKIE’s department “Information Technology for C2” is specialised on solving interoperability problems.
