CIVILEX papers

In the framework of the CIVILEX project two papers have been submitted and accepted at two international events.

  1. A research paper ‘Information Management in a Civilian Mission. EUCAP Somalia Case Study’ has been accepted for presentation and publication at the International Conference on Military Communications and Information Systems ICMCIS 15-16 May 2017.
  2. An abstract for the research paper ‘Situational Awareness and Interoperability for Civilian Missions’ at the 22nd International Command and Control Research & Technology Symposium ICCRTS 6-8 November 2017.

II CIVILEX Stakeholders Workshop

CIVILEX aims to identify, characterise and model the communication and information systems in use within the EU civilian missions, understand the stakeholders’ requirements and the institutional context in which this changes need to happen and provide possible solutions to be tackled by a future interoperable Situational Awareness, Information Exchange and Operation Control Platform.
The main objectives of this workshop were:

CIVILEX visits EUCAP Nestor

Project consortium members have completed their field mission in the Horn of Africa. They have visited the EUCAP Nestor offices in Nairobi, Somaliland and Mogadishu. They have also attended the Joint Maritime Security Seminar, in Berbera, organized by UNSOM, EUNAFVOR-Atalanta and EUCAP Nestor with high-level participants from the Somaliland Government.
Relevant information for the project has been collected through interviews with staff holding different positions in the mission organization: Head of operations, EUCN officers and advisors.

CIVILEX interviews Mr. Serrano

Members of the CIVILEX consortium met today with Mr. Serrano, the Deputy Secretary General for CSDP (Common Security and Defence Policy) and Crisis Response at the European External Action Service (EEAS). During the exchange Mr. Serrano was joined by Mr. Vermessen, Deputy Civilian Operations Commander / Chief of Staff in the CPCC and Mrs. Nina Antolovic Tovornik from the Crisis Management and Planning Directorate (CMPD).

CIVILEX in eafip

Civilex will be presented in the EAFIP event in Athens on 19th October 2016

This two-day event targets procurers, policy makers, procurement law firms and businesses, to raise awareness about the most recent outcomes from major PCP/PPI initiatives across Europe, and organise networking between stakeholders to discuss best practice, new ideas, initiatives and current funding opportunities for PCP/PPI.

CIVILEX workshop

The first CIVILEX workshop will take place in Brussels on 11th October. The objectives of this working session are to:

  • Contribute to the establishment of the community of Stakeholders
  • Co-create with the stakeholders
  • Gather feedback and collect needs from Stakeholders
  • Present some preliminary results

CIVILEX Kick-off Meeting

The CIVILEX kick-off meeting was held on 18th May in Madrid. All the project partners attended the meeting:
